Welcome to the home of The Mini Morris Company
We use traditional English folk culture as the stimulus for education and enjoyment, while simultaneously raising the profile of music, dance and folk customs of England. We bring the vibrant colour and sound of folk customs to communities in an exciting and energetic way; which grabs attention, builds skills, confidence and stimulates the imagination.
The Company began in June 2003 with support from The Prince’s Trust and has gained an international reputation for its creativity, inspiration and community involvement; collecting the 2005 NatWest Enterprise Award.
What do we do?
We provide workshops, performances, residencies, resources, information and friendly advice to schools, festivals, community groups and those interested in English traditional practices. Workshops are tailored specifically to your needs and we organise events and workshops that complement specific curriculum areas, community events, celebrations or other traditional activities and cultures. We have considerable knowledge of and access to resources and materials that help promote English traditions, and are happy to be involved in planning and designing your events and activities. Please do not hesitate to get in touch for more information.
Why is English culture important?
English folk culture thrives within the rich pattern of wider world cultures. It’s a vital part of the social history of Britain that is often overlooked; and it is as vibrant, colourful and exciting as any other culture. As nations and communities become more mobile and intertwined, celebrating and sharing English culture helps people understand the many similarities, differences and relationships that create a diverse, multicultural world. Through music, song and dance people develop and share many skills; including team working and interpersonal skills, communication, performance, creativity, confidence, a sense of achievement, historical and social knowledge, co-ordination and physical skills.
